This website is a forum for people in New Mexico working to promote democracy and challenge corporate control of our government and our lives. This website was created in response to the Citizens United Supreme Court decision in 2010 that ruled that corporations are persons and therefore have the same constitutional rights as people such as freedom of speech (represented in this case by unlimited campaign finance contributions). This group was formed as a New Mexico chapter of the national Campaign to Legalize Democracy & MovetoAmend.org.

MovetoAmend.org is a project of the Campaign to Legalize Democracy, a coalition dedicated to ending the illegitimate legal doctrines that prevent the American people from governing ourselves. The Project was initiated by Democracy Unlimited of Humboldt County (DUHC), the Independent Progressive Politics Network (IPPN), the Liberty Tree Foundation for the Democratic Revolution (Liberty Tree), and Ultimate Civics.

SANTA FE RESOLUTION ON CORPORATE PERSONHOOD HAS BEEN DRAFTED

...Therefore be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Santa Fe join with tens of thousands of citizens, grassroots organizations and local governments across the country in calling for an Amendment to the Constitution of the United States to Abolish Corporate Personhood and return our democracy, our elections and our communities to America’s human persons and thus to reclaim our sovereign right to self-governance under the 10th Amendment.

Be it further resolved that the City Council of the City of Santa Fe calls on the State Legislature to amend the Constitution of the State of New Mexico, sections 2,3,4,5 and 18, and in doing so insert the word “natural” and/or “mortal” before the words “people” or “persons” where they might appear.
